Creams, shampoos, and light therapy to treat hair loss often lead to disappointing results. However, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) hair restoration may be the answer to thinning hair you’ve been looking for. PRP hair restoration is a three-step procedure by which a client’s blood is drawn, processed to isolate growth factors, and then injected into the scalp. Modern Aesthetic Centers use this minimally invasive procedure to stimulate hair growth in both men and women. Contact us today to discuss your hair loss treatment options!
Easy as 1, 2, 3
PRP hair restoration is a three-step process. Blood is first drawn from your arm. Then it is placed in a vial in a centrifuge. After about ten minutes, the blood will be separated into three layers: platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma, and red blood cells. The platelet-rich plasma is then drawn into a syringe and injected directly into the scalp where hair loss is occurring.
Natural Hair Growth
PRP hair restoration is a safe, effective way to stimulate hair growth without incisions or anesthesia. Because PRP uses just a few injections of your own platelets, there is no risk of adverse reactions to foreign materials. PRP stimulates the rejuvenation of your skin cells, promoting healthy hair follicles.
When you arrive for your consultation, we will work with you to determine how much hair loss you have had and discuss what you hope to achieve with PRP hair restoration. We will explain the procedure and how PRP hair restoration therapy can help initiate your regenerative processes to stimulate hair growth. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may and receive individualized advice on your treatment regimen.
PRP hair restoration is a natural way to achieve new hair growth and thicken and retain your existing hair. When you arrive at our center, a vial of blood will be taken from your arm then it will be spun in a centrifuge. After about ten minutes, the blood will separate into three layers, the middle layer being the platelet-rich plasma layer we will use in the injections. Once we have extracted the platelet-rich plasma, we will determine where the injections should be made on the scalp for optimal results. Once we have completed your injections, you are free to go about the rest of your day.
While you may see an increased thickness of the hair and an improvement in hair texture after two weeks, you will see measurable results after two to three months. It is essential to have more than one treatment in order to achieve optimal results. PRP hair restoration therapy has been shown to regenerate hair growth and thicken hair in the majority of patients who have had the procedure. This novel therapy has long-lasting results as long as you maintain treatments after the initial series of treatments are completed.
After your procedure, it is important not to use hair products or shampoo your hair for at least six hours. Don’t visit the sauna or take a hot bath for at least 72 hours and avoid swimming for three days. You should also avoid alcoholic beverages for the first two days after the procedure. You may shed some hair after the procedure because of the nature of the treatment. Sometimes flooding the system with the cytokines and chemokines in the platelet-rich plasma will traumatize the hair, and some of it will fall out. However, don’t be alarmed, as this is normal, and the new hair you grow and the current hair you have that thickens will more than make up for any lost hair.
The time to recover fully and see complete results is about four to six weeks after your procedure.
It is advised not to use alcohol, caffeine, or nicotine for two days before treatment, as these can cause bruising, hinder healing, and minimize results.
